A RARE PHOTO REVEALS  BURIED MESSER  TREASURES

Picture
This recently discovered photograph, shows some of Joes's finest wheelthrown designs at the Bowman county fair .  Joe and Eunice set up a booth to demonstrate to the community exactly what goes on in that refurbished coop. The  display was a huge hit as onseers were mesmerized as their local clay turned into art, right before their eyes.

FROM THE EARTH TO THE COLLECTOR...A TRUE LABOR OF LOVE

Picture

After the Salt and Peppers were poured and trimmed, ....after all the Steers were branded, these wheel thrown masterpieces were  the pottery that Joe and Eunice looked forward  to creating the most.

"My aim is to make the owner feel that here is his native soil, brought into his house, and made beautiful and useful by the skill of human hands"  ~Joseph Messer

With Joe at the wheel, he could go crazy with shapes as well as  his experimental glazes created from sources as obscure as pulverized "Depression Glass" (ruby and cobalt) from broken glassware found in the dump etc.  Some results they could predict but most an unexpected gift from the kiln!
