The story behind the photography archive

In 2011 during a visit to Minnesota to see her family, Sandra and Eunice were looking through Joe's many school sketch portfolios and decided this would be the perfect opportunity to photograph each and every one  for safe keeping. Sandra had all her professional photography gear with her so the timing couldn't be better.  In the process, all of Joes paintings and Messer ceramics ended up in the photoshoot ,as well as  an occasional cameo appearance by Eunice's papillons.

A lot of experimenting went on with the pottery items before the light bulb moment hit to use the weathered window frames from JOES CHILDHOOD STONE HOUSE  as a backdrop ... PERFECT!

The weather forecast was gorgeous, so at optimum light between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM every day for two weeks, Eunice and Sandra would gingerly set up each of these treasured family heirlooms  on a chair,  and washed by the gentle sun, 5-20 photos were taken of each item at different angles, including closeups of signatures and special markings.

From this 2 week photo project, a website, book, and many wonderful memories for Sandra and Eunice were born, and Sandra learned so many wonderful things about her parents early years together in the process.
