"The pair of antelope is a favorite. At the time there were herds of antelope in the countryside close to town. Joe spent many hours sketching them before modeling in clay.    7 1/2" long" ~Eunice

BELOW IS JOES ORIGINAL SKETCH FOR THE PORCELAIN ANTELOPE AND PERSONAL NOTES

(1) Joe's initial sketches before modeling in soft clay (2)making a plaster mold (3)casting in slip clay(4) trimming off seam marks  (5)underglaze color (6) clear overglaze (7) fire to 2500 degree

In 1953 the antelope were $5.00 per pair....wow!
